The midterm reports are in and the Senatorial Committee On Industrial Progression has reported the worst numbers in history, which is paradoxically good news for the Lord Protector’s ambitions.
The plan 10 years ago was for peldaks to leave the factories of Peldor en masse and join the military, utilizing our natural, superior strength to fight while our Protectorate allies produce the high-quality military goods necessary to fight modern wars. Anyone can work in a factory, but only elves can take a bullet to the face and keep moving.
The numbers are in and of the roughly 1.1 billion peldaks, about 117,500,000 are split across 205 legions and logistics roles around the Protectorate. This is double the number of soldiers that were in the legion at the end of the war three years ago because Lord Protector Radoswav ‘Darkhawk’ Sobolski’s first post-war edict was to double the size of every legion.
Jobs in the Peldak Commonwealth are counted by registry, as each peldak will have multiple jobs throughout the year, typically two or three. Between campaigns, even soldiers in the Legions will typically find employment with local companies. So, the population may be 1.1 billion, but the current job count is the mid four billions. Unlike aliens, peldaks also don’t get older, slow down, or retire.
Before the war there were roughly 700 million jobs registered as military industrial, and it rose to 1.5 billion as production reached its peak in 563. Once the deindustrialization campaign really began following the war’s end, industrial jobs fell to around 800 million, with more factories shutting their doors every day.
Agricultural, security, artistry, and commercial industrial jobs have either not seen prominent reductions or increased since the war ended. This means the recruitment for the legions primarily came from military industry.
