Lord Protector Pearlmire recently appointed his grandson, Adris Pearlmire, to be the ambassador to the Kingdom of Arcas. As it’s the domain of Queen Olympia who makes a habit of outplaying and humiliating peldaks, it was a perfect Adris, who takes after his grandmother as an especially noteworthy diplomat.

Calm under pressure, quick witted, with a long history of accomplishments. Adris first attained moderate notoriety during the Warring Sejm Era over 2,000 years ago and was Krol Kura’s chief diplomat to the Burgundian Clans.

When Adris was sent to Queen Olympia, she said he was a cut above the dim-witted diplomats the previous Lord Protector sent to deal with her.

So Queen Olympia took it as a personal challenge to break him.

It was a stressful job and Adris did well at first, using his millennia of experience to bat aside her attempts to humiliate him. But Queen Olympia was unrelenting and demanded perfection. While he was perfect, she publicly praised the Lord Protector’s grandson and treated the increases in workload as a vote of high confidence. But the anxiety and stress slowly got to him.

At a meeting to discuss next year’s procurement contracts, Queen Olympia noticed Adris arrived intoxicated and she could hardly contain her excitement.

She asked for charts, statistics, basic questions he could easily provide even while drunk, but she kept hounding him with what could be excused as due diligence. He clearly struggled, but she kept going, and eventually Adris snapped.

Tears in his eyes, he screamed and cursed the Arcadian monarch, denouncing the queen and her Kingdom while she sat back and basked in her victory over this venerable elf. The confidence built up over two millennia was torn down in less than five years.

Adris Pearlmire stormed out and, naturally, did not return.
