The tribal firryans of Foregone were nomads out of necessity, not desire. For 2,000 years they were hunted, and sold into slavery, so they needed the capability to pack up and flee at the first sign of trouble. If they fought they would always be outnumbered by the regiments of Cosmopolitan Firryans, and prisoners of war make fine slaves.
It’s only been 30 years since they attained strong security guarantees from the D’Sev Holy Imperium, but they’re settling at a rapid pace. Their camps, which used to be seasonal at most, are becoming permanent. With D’Sev guidance, they’re tending to farms, orchards, and workshops. It’s an explosion of knowledge never before seen, only possible due to their specific circumstance.
Firryan trinkets are flooding the D’Sev market on novelty alone, and wealth is flowing into the 63 Chaccarn States. Across three continents, a million firryans are living in luxurious conditions rivaled only by Foregone City at the height of the slave trade.
With this wealth, power, and the bitter memory of failure seen during the Enpryys Campaign, the United Chaccarn States have sent representatives to the isle Calloucha to negotiate the One Destiny, One Fist agreement. When the details were finalized, each representative slit their palm open and poured the blood into a large cauldron, as is traditional for the nomads. The D’Sev wrote the agreement down.
Each Chaccarn State forms a regional military with 3,000 standing soldiers. 189,000 men in total, with a shared defensive policy, a shared officer corps trained by the Imperium’s military, all armed with modern D’Sev muskets.
It’s obvious that the UCS and D’Sev Imperium are preparing for the next war. They only had minimal training last time but benefited greatly from our troops being horribly out of position. They know we’ll be ready for them.
