The Neralin’s Answer To The Reliable Printing Press: The Printer

Another essential technology coming out of the neralin manufactories, of which I’ve already secured my orders so I’m happy to share more, is the printer.

Printers are a bioelectric machine which connects to the keyboard and monitor via wires. These wires tell the printer how thousands of tiny stamps can apply ink in specific patterns. My guide in this technological adventure, Saraas, told me the printer didn’t need to be adapted to fit Cirathan Standard. It can replicate anything on the fly, even complex images!

The neralin company that sells these printers, Hyberah Electronics, also sells special colored printer ink. A test revealed HE printers can replicate the visage of masterfully drawn tattoos with such accuracy that I thought they hired an artist to draw straight onto the page.

But when Saraas explained how images are transferred to the printer, it didn’t make any sense to me, and I promptly gave up trying to understand.

“Suffice it to say, our computers work with very specific technologies that are already set up for you, no need for complex installation. But it’s only compatible with our technologies, you can’t connect them to that ridiculous printing press machine you use. We neralin used a technology like that long ago, but it was so long ago that there aren’t any clear records on it. How an interstellar news company is getting by with such an archaic wooden press is nothing short of a miracle.”

Peldan Star News is choosing to take that comment as a compliment. The printing press has served us well for centuries.

Computers, and the printer appliance, will most likely see quick, mass adoption in offices and government buildings. Personal ownership probably won’t be that widespread as it’s hard to see why the average citizen would need such a niche service.
