In my prior news report about the cirathans in our Pelratha colony attempting to coerce our women into partaking in nude beaches, I mentioned how a core persuasion method they used was to make tan lines unfashionable by associating them with laborers. A farmer, or anyone else who works outside all day, will typically have their face, neck, and arms exposed, while the rest of their body is covered. This makes it so their face, neck, and arms get tanned while the rest of their body remains pale. The cirathans have a specific term for it: a farmer’s tan.
The many estates and farms that dot the Pelrathan countryside read my report, saw how the golden hairs were badmouthing them, and swiftly decided to use the cirathan’s tactics against them. They collectivized their agricultural output and organized to sell their produce at horrifically inflated prices to the 16 cirathan cities that predate the Pelratha colony.
The Pelrathan Farmer’s Tan Commerce Guild stated that they would not even discuss reducing the price of crops, meat, dairy, or eggs until all 16 cities made a formal apology, and stopped accusing tan lines of being unfashionable.
The following day, all 16 cities and every guild master within released a formal statement apologizing to the farmers and laborers of the colony. They officially condemned the slander, promised to be more sensitive going forward, and planned to organize a cultural event discussing a variety of cirathan tanning methods.
The cirathans caved so quickly that some workers left their estates under direction to sell at inflated prices, then arrived at the city and couldn’t sell at all because they needed to wait for the commerce guild to make an updated price list.
