The long Ciratha winter is subsiding and citizens of the Pelratha colony are flocking to the northern beaches.
The oceans and seas of Peldor were generally too cold and infested with predators to be used for recreation, and because Peldor doesn’t have a sun or moon there were no waves. The preexisting cirathan locals of the colony have capitalized on the beachfront novelty to sell swimwear and ‘wave lessons’ to the peldaks. Surfing is one such sport that’s seeing mass adoption due to the physicality and height of waves on some beaches.
But a large culture clash between the peldaks and cirathans has been the skin exposure.
Peldaks are a naturally conservative people who tend to cover most of our bodies due to a long history of bundling for the cold and hiding from predators. Cirathans only wear as many layers as the weather requires, and they prefer when more skin is visible because it’s easier to read body language.
Peldaks want our swimwear to be designed more like a second skin, with gloves and foot coverings. Cirathans are fine with just shorts and a top, but they even find it acceptable for their males to forego the shirt!
It’s reported that some peldaks are being persuaded into wearing these absurd outfits because it ‘lets us tan more’. Other peldaks are being heckled into making the switch by cirathans calling their martial prowess into question. A peldak would only be reluctant to show off their body, the cirathans argue, if they weren’t proud of their muscles.
Other visitors to Pelratha swiftly follow the cirathan model. Firryan, tendori, okumenen, monsoorai, they put on these shameful pieces of cloth as if there was no issue.
Honestly, they might as well drop all pretenses and just go to the beach naked.
