Annexation Of The Coffee Paradise

The Army of Light is on the march up the Vistula River in an inexorable campaign of glory, victory, and salvation for all elvenkind.

We conquer because the riverlanders are subjugated by the steppelanders. We fight because they are fellow elves in need of rescuing, because we must teach the steppelanders how to properly interact with their elven cousins. We will win because it is the will of God Almighty that we save the elves from themselves.

But an unspoken, soft benefit of our conquests up the many branching paths of the Vistula is that we have annexed the coffee producing ravine network of Cohe-atata.

We have deprived the vile steppelander hordes of their precious caffeine, and now the coffee may flow throughout the Kingdom of Peldor with minimal trade restrictions.

The riverlanders of Cohe-atata are not trading one master for another. We are instead opening trade for them, in opposition to the unfair restrictions placed upon them by Horde Murgen, the former rulers of the city and surrounding territory. Horde Murgen practically enslaved the city and demanded a tithe of coffee under penalty of death, with Horde Murgen turning around and selling the coffee to other hordes. Cohe-atata received no benefit from this arrangement, and any coffee we traded for had to be smuggled under the noses of Murgen’s enforcers. It was an unnecessary expense that typically involved bribing Mugen officials.

Under our leadership, Cohe-atata is free to trade their coffee as they wish, for prices they deem fair, for their own benefit. Even if they wish to raise prices, that will be their choice.

An elf is entitled to enjoy the fruit of their labor. Or, in this case, the beans of their labor.
