The Hayato Empire’s shocking victory against the Takamagahara League on Tsuchi only resulted in limited border changes and reparations, with the real value coming from the prestige. The Hayato Empire is now the foremost areoplane manufacturer in the known galaxy and everyone wants a piece of their skills.
Thousands of orders are coming in for the latest fighters and bombers, requests to teach local troops how to fly and fight, runways are being paved all over the Axis and Protectorate for both military and civilian uses. Those who long wished for faster airships have finally found a craft for them, and the Lord Protector signed an agreement with the Hayato to hire them as auxiliaries. Similar to how the monsoorai run the Protectorate’s navy, the issei will dominate the air.
The Hayato Empire is run by shrewd diplomats and it’s likely they didn’t push for more damaging concessions because they plan to eventually start another war to showcase new capabilities. The peace ceremony opened with Sun Emperor Mutsuhito arriving in a new passenger areoplane, and half of his speech was spent bragging about their hikouki, even mentioning how their next generation of aircraft will be able to circumnavigate Tsuchi and bomb any target they wish.
Since the signing ceremony, the empire officially opened a university which will focus on the further development of areoplane piloting, maintenance, and development. Over 300 veterans from the war have already been hired to teach, though the university facilities won’t be completed for another three years.
The Axis developed their own air force in concert with the Takamagahara but were constantly playing catchup with Hayato during the war. This has been a humiliation for their alliance because up until this areoplane boom the Hayato were considered a relatively poor state just barely working towards parity.
