For eons the Issei suffered on their twin frozen worlds, Isseio Prime and Isseio Alpha.
The former’s axis is tilted 90 degrees, so the north and south pole are bathed in pure darkness or light during the long months of winter or summer respectively.
The latter is far from their sun and only a 1,000 mile strip around the equator is habitable.
Their bodies are adapted to handle the cold better than most, and they tend to overheat easily.
With their recent admission into the Protectorate, and their ability to survive low temperatures well known, economic opportunities are popping up across 14 planets.
For example, the north of Relgan is the Ashari Tundra. Officially ruled by North Santor, Ashari has always been sparsely populated despite the vast amounts of proven mineral reserves. If the issei can develop the land with NS funneling aid and resources, it could be extraordinarily profitable for everyone. It could protentional spark conflicts with neighboring countries who now see a reason to claim the land.
The islands and peninsulas that surround the north pole of Arcadia are currently home to the most developed isseian colony, called Arasuka, which has about 4,000 colonists. The territory is over a million square miles of land, and the issei clans have already introduced hardy winters fruits perfect for the far north. The arcadians aren’t particularly interested in economic benefits, they want a permanently settled ally to the north which will, hopefully, prevent the D’Sev from making use of the region.
Conversely, the Axis Powers are funding colonization efforts of their own, such as on Relgan’s Southern Continent, Hapish, laying just beyond our dependent: The Eluid Commonwealth. This will require us to increase the garrison on an already secure region, at no extra cost to the Axis.
