30,000 peldak warriors, specialized to fight within Great Tendor, descended upon the southern rainforest with 5,000 hemlock.

The Mammoth Spiders’ insatiable thirst for life energy, and their terrible birthrate, would have quickly seen them consume the rainforest before invading the rest of Great Tendor.

But we caught the threat early and successfully slowed the spread. Then we moved in with the goal of extermination.

Last month one of our companies patrolled a route so deep into the rainforest that the village they found didn’t appear on any map. The settlement was covered in webs so thick that not even peldak blades could sever, and a hundred cocoons of long-dead villagers decorated the streets.

Hundreds of mammoth spiders swarmed the company, forcing an orderly withdrawal as the spiders pursued for miles.

Three days later, four brigades brought elven might to bear against the abominations. In ordered ranks, the peldaks shot foul arachnids with volleys of lead balls and slashed the stragglers with their gun axes.

After clearing the outskirts, the brigades removed 100 meters of forest. Squads entered the village, burning the webs, and retreated to the perimeter if they encountered resistance. They dove to the ground and let their comrades shoot volleys over their heads.

A titanic queen spider lay in the center. Big as a house and giving birth to ten man-sized offspring at a time.

The troops withdrew with the spider queen and her guards giving chase.

Stepping into the open she was set upon by nearly 4,000 heavy muskets. While her thick and powerful body was resistant, and she closed the gap and made contact with one of the brigades, she was ultimately felled by elven steel and firemoss sap.

The queen may be exterminated, but our forces will remain to ensure the rainforest is safe.
