My neralin friend, Saraas, installed a ‘television’ in my Pelratha home two years ago. It’s finally becoming useful because, as we get more familiar with each other’s languages, the Cirathan Standard subtitles are finally readable.

There are nine current channels broadcasting across Ciratha using arcane sciences and satellites that I can’t begin to explain. These broadcast all hours of the day, and this initial list of channels will be standardized across all planets in the Protectorate during the initial wave of development, with more channels coming later.

Channel 1: Language conversion, where neralin teach the viewers how to translate the neralin’s language into Cirathan Standard.

Channel 2: Film channel, broadcasting old neralin movies with subtitles.

Channel 3: News channel, where a Pel League studio reads local news from around Ciratha to their audience. Channel 3 News has partnered with Peldan Star News as the source for current events on other planets.

Channel 4: Film channel, broadcasting neralin movies released in the past five years.

Channel 5: Commercial channel, where local companies pay the neralin broadcasting company for permission to show advertisements for their products.

Channel 6: Tekort film channel, broadcasting films created by the neralin’s Tekort company.

Channel 7: Short film channel, broadcasting films which are only about 30 minutes long, and frequently have many sequels. Some series have the same characters but no real progression, like anthologies, while others are like a film split into dozens of parts.

Channel 8: Eluid film channel, which shows films that are actually tens of thousands of drawings that are shown in such quick succession that it creates the illusion that the drawings are moving.

Channel 9: Sports films, which are recordings of real-life sporting events which are then replayed for television audiences just days or sometimes only hours after it occurred in-stadium.
