Wartime Spotlight: Second Enpryys Campaign

Sayran Scout Ships continue their slow delivery of news around the D’Sev blockade, and this time it centers on Foregone.

The western continent, Enpryys, has seen heavy fighting between the 22nd Legion against the Imperium and their vassals. 100,000 legionnaires vs 60,000 mystics and 140,000 firryans, with the untamed continent as their battleground.

The Sentinel of Foregone, commanding the 22nd Legion, wanted a decisive, big battle to inflict heavy casualties on the enemy and force their withdrawal.

The D’Sev Mote’Q wanted a prolonged, multi-year campaign where small, rapid raids would burn crops and slaughter livestock while the imperial navy would choke off resupply. Peldaks have high caloric requirements and are more susceptible to starvation.

The armies danced around each other for over three years, fighting small skirmishes and only three major battles.

The Battle of Shoall Forest saw the 22nd Legion’s Third Division approach a firryan force, and then as the firryans pulled back, a detachment of peldaks ambushed them along the path of retreat and held them in a devastating pincer. A clear Protectorate victory.

The Rettvel Distraction was a four-day battle along the Rettvel hills. As our forces were engaged, a large detachment of firryans slipped around our lines, defeated a much smaller reserve force, and burned nearly 130,000 acres of farmland just before harvest. The D’Sev suffered heavy casualties, but it was a strategic victory for the Imperium as the legion wouldn’t venture too far from their fields again.

The Vennd Push was a sudden, broad-front assault by the Imperium to try and slip through cracks in the legion’s line to burn their fields. While the D’Sev successfully destroyed up to 70% of Enpryys’s food production, they suffered such heavy casualties that their army ruined.

But even with the D’Sev withdrawal, the 22nd Legion might starve anyway.
