In response to faebeast hordes growing bolder in recent cycles, Stalker Lord Elwein and Saint Lewick have called for hunters across the Kingdom of Peldor to join the latest Great Hunt. All bounties will be paid from the Kingdom’s coffers, and the rules are as follows:
1. Use any means to kill dangerous creatures.
2. Bounty rewards require a specific part of the beast as evidence.
3. Harming your fellow elves directly or indirectly is still a crime.
4. The highest bounty, and the main target of this Great Hunt, is the kroadon strain of faebeast.
The kroadon faebeasts are lumbering ambush predators capable of deceptively quick bursts of speed. They walk upright like elves but are covered in hard, bumpy skin, with elongated faces covered in rows of jagged teeth. They’ve been reported to fashion powerful spears made from the large teeth that frequently fall out of their maws, and unlike normal kroadons, the leathery crests running from head to tail do not glow, so they’re difficult to spot until it’s too late. When hunting elves, they prefer to lay on their stomachs and, when an elf steps within 10 feet, they shoot forward and clamp their jaws around our knee, swiftly severing our leg. Only high-quality, reinforced steel has been known to stand up to their bite strength, which not every hunter has access to.
Kroadon faebeasts hunt in packs of 6-8, the hunting grounds for any tribe are within 10 miles of major water ways, and while they can’t climb, they’re smart enough to chomp through tree trunks to bring their prey down. The evidence for a kill is the two large, serrated bottom teeth beneath their nostrils. The Great Hunt will not be complete until kroadon faebeasts are extinct.
